When Goodbye is the First Step

“Not all goodbyes are loud. Some are whispered through clenched hearts and trembling hands. But every goodbye begins a becoming.”

I remember the day I knew I couldn’t stay.
Not in the place, not in the role, not in the shape I had been trying to fit myself into.
Nothing had happened, not in the way others expect when you say you're leaving.
There was no fight, no betrayal, no crash.
Just a quiet knowing in my bones:
this is not mine anymore.

And still—letting go felt like betrayal.
Like failure.
Like walking away from something I had promised to carry forever.

But the truth is, the longer I held on,
the more I disappeared.

The Sacred Act of Letting Go

We talk about healing as rising.
As strength, light, triumph.

But before all of that—
there is the goodbye.

There is the soft death of something once cherished.
The version of you who believed staying meant loyalty.
The role you played so well it became a second skin.
The dream that once lit you up but now quietly aches in your chest.

Letting go is not weakness.
It is sacred.

To open your hand,
to release what no longer honors you—
is to say: I trust what comes next.

Grieve Slowly, Kindly

You don’t have to rush this.

There is no timeline for untying your heart.
No right way to grieve the versions of yourself you no longer are.

Some days you will feel lighter.
Other days, lost.

Both are truth.
Both are part of the unwinding.

Let yourself ache.
Let yourself remember what was beautiful.
But don’t let it chain you.

Your soul will tell you when it’s time.
Not to forget—
but to begin again.

The Question That Opens the Door

So I ask you—
gently,
honestly:

What are you still holding that your soul has outgrown?

A name?
A belief?
A love that no longer sees you?

Place it in your hands.
Feel its weight.
And when you’re ready—
let it go.

That’s where healing begins.
Not in the arrival,
but in the goodbye.
